Research Objectives
My research will focus on the optimization of the figure of merit of thermoelectric devices (ZT), which is strongly correlated with thermoelectric efficiency. I will be performing scanning and transmission electron microscopy (S/TEM) in order to investigate the relation between nanostructures and their effects on the electron conduction and phonon scattering mechanisms. My goal is to identify processing techniques that will yield desirable nanostructures, necessary for the improvement in thermoelectric efficiency.
