Stephanie Wang, a rising sophomore at Case Western University working with Ben Shindel of the VPD Group this summer through the SHyNE NNCI REU program, presented her work this week at the 2022 NNCI summit in Louisville, Kentucky. Her presentation, An Investigation into Lead Adsorption from Water Using Tea, won "Best Poster" from a pool of over 50 poster presentations from REU students across the country. Stephanie's research this summer has focused on characterizing the adsorptive properties of tea leaves, specifically for heavy metals like lead, to gain insight into the public health implications of different types of tea and methods of tea preparation.
