Jinsong Wu, Vinayak Dravid, Harold Kung and Jiaxing Huang have been awarded a research fund to explore novel metal fluorides electrode for high capacity lithium-ion batteries, as supported by Samsung Global Research Outreach (GRO) Program. Energy storage is essential for large scale application of renewable energy. Metal fluorides with high thermodynamic potential are promising materials to form composites for use as stable and active materials for cathodes in high capacity lithium-ion batteries.
