David wins 2nd prize in the ASM International Undergraduate Materials Design Competition
David Chae recently won 2nd prize in the ASM International Undergraduate Materials Design Competition along with 5 other undergrads. The project was titled, "Precipitation Hardened Austenitic Stainless Steel for Additive Manufacturing". This project was the product of MatSci 390 class.
The competition is based on the submission of design-focused project reports that describe work that was performed as part of the capstone course or as a team project by undergraduate engineering students at any level. Recognizing the diversity of design curricula in materials and related engineering departments, a broad definition of "design" is considered for this competition.
The awards were as follows:
First Prize: $2,000 + $ 500 travel assistance + $ 500 to the department for support of future design teams
Second Prize: $1,500 + $ 500 travel assistance
Third Prize: $1,000 + $ 500 travel assistance
Congrats David!
