Vikaś's image selected as top ten images of Northwestern

Congratulations! Vikas' image of has been selected as one of the top 10 images in Northwestern University's annual scientific images contest, "Capturing the Beauty of Science," that celebrates and showcases the aesthetic side of research. The images will be on display in various venues from October 2015. The grand prize winner will be announced in an exhibition launch event. We wish him good luck !!!

About the Image - Nanomagnetic Honeycomb

Hexagonal close-packed assembly of monodisperse iron oxide nanoparticles. Magnetic nanostructures (MNS), composed of iron oxide nanoparticle core and biocompatible coating (such as PEG, silica and dextran) have attracted considerable attention to address diagnostics and therapy of cancer, Alzheimer's and cardiovascular diseases. A significant part of the promise of MNS lies in their potential for "theranostic" applications, wherein diagnostics makes use of the enhanced localized contrast in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) while therapy leverages the ability of MNS to heat under external radio frequency (RF) field for thermal therapy or use of thermal activation for release of therapy cargo.
