Former VPD PhD student Bin Liu Proposed to his girlfriend at graduation ceremony
Former VPD PhD student, Bin Liu, returned to Northwestern to attend the McCormick Hooding Ceremony and graduation. During the hooding ceremony, he proposed to his girlfriend Jie Han. Surprised and crying with joy, Jie responded, “yes” as the audience applauded.
‘There is the man who knows how to take risks’, said Dean Julio Ottino of McCormick School of Engineering and Applied Science during the ceremony. Congratulations Bin! Please accept our most sincere wishes for a long and happy and prosperous life together.
Bin graduated from VPD group in 2012, and is currently working at Intel Corp. His fiancé Jie is also an alumni of Department of Materials Science and Engineering at NU.
