VPD Group member, Jeff Cain, Receives Federal Funding for Research

Jeff Cain, a doctoral student in Professor Dravid's VPD Group has received two fellowships, the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship (funded by the NSF) and the National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship (funded by the DoD) for his proposal to study potential exotic electronic phenomena of the atomically-layered, two-dimensional materials, specifically the chalcogenide layers (MoS2, GaS, GaSe, etc.). He plans to study the properties of these layers, their heterostructures, and possible nano-structured hybrids for optical and magnetic studies.

Jeff is extremely thankful for the opportunities that both fellowships present for his research.
