Yukun Liu Named One of 2023 M&M Student Scholars

Yukun Liu, VPD Group doctoral student in Material Science & Engineering, was selected for 2023 Microscopy & Microanalysis Student Scholar Award for his work titled “Probing the ‘Order’ in Complexity: Entropy-engineered Thermoelectric Materials.” The award will be conferred at the Microscopy & Microanalysis 2023 meeting.

The same work was recently published as an article titled “Unraveling the Role of Entropy in Thermoelectrics: Entropy-stabilized Quintuple Rock Salt PbGeSnCdxTe_3+x” in Journal of American Chemical Society, and Yukun Liu is the first author on this article. The article presented fundamental understanding of how to utilize entropy engineering to modulate the microstructure and transport properties in thermoelectric materials. It offers a new route to search for high-performance thermoelectrics in entropy-engineered materials. This work involved close collaboration with the Kanatzidis Group and the Wolverton group.
