Educational Background

2016 - Present Northwestern University, Doctoral Student, Materials Science and Engineering
2012 - 2016 Stanford University, B.S. Materials Science and Engineering

Research Objectives

I employ novel staining techniques to visualize macromolecules, such as DNA and proteins, by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and scanning TEM. These sample preparation methods, along with cryogenic electron tomography, allow for the reconstruction of 3D chromatin structure in a whole nucleus. I also use contrast enhancement methods to image the protein distribution in bacteria and the DNA strands in spherical nucleic acids.
