Research Objectives and Approaches

Currently, our lab is synthesizing magnetic nanostructures of various sizes. Due to their magnetic properties, these particles have dual applications as contrast agents for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and immunologically targeted therapeutics. I plan to study the cellular biocompatibility of these magnetic nanostructures with various surface modifications and the detection of the widely accepted neurotoxic species implicated in Alzheimer's Disease, known as ADDLs, using immunoconjugates for MRI.
